For centuries, period blood was called gross and not worth studying.

Turns out it might help some women get pregnant when nothing else could.

12 women with severe intrauterine adhesions, which is scar tissue that wrecks the uterine lining, had all failed multiple rounds of IVF. Researchers isolated stem cells from their own menstrual blood, expanded them in a lab, and transplanted them back.
