For the first time in more than a century, a previously unknown Underground Railroad hiding spot was discovered inside a landmark 1832 home in Manhattan.

It was hidden behind a built-in chest of drawers on the second floor of the Merchant’s House Museum. A rectangular opening was cut into the floorboards. The opening is tiny.
